VegRehoboth to host its 5th ThanksLiving

VegRehoboth to host its 5th ThanksLiving dinner at Fork and Flask Nov 19th
ThanksLiving, the cherished alternative celebration and one of the premier events of VegRehoboth, will be held Sunday, November 19that the Fork and Flask at Nage.  The 4-course meal will be served from 4 to 9 pm.  The extended dining times will allow more attendees for this popular event that has sold out every year.
ThanksLiving was developed 5 years ago as a cruelty-free celebration of Thanksgiving. In its first year held at CAMP Rehoboth, noted chefs prepared dishes and served them to the over-flow crowd.  Over time, the event has grown and evolved, traveling from downtown Rehoboth restaurant Cilantro, where a second seating was added after the first one sold out, to Salero on the top floor of the Henlopen Hotel.  Last year’s event was held at the Children’s Beach House.  The event again reached capacity and served as a fundraiser for the important work of the Children’s Beach House serving children with special needs.
While this will be the first year Fork and Flask at Nage will be hosting ThanksLiving, they have long been supporters of VegRehoboth events, including hosting the brunch following VegFest three times.  The brunch following this year’s VegFest in June was so popular, they now offer a vegan brunch the first Saturday of every month.
A staple of VegRehoboth events and Rehoboth Beach VegFest every year has been award-winning chef and local favorite, Hari Cameron.  Hari will be making his signature mac & uncheese, a popular dish at grandpa MACS that now boasts two locations, downtown Rehoboth and Coastal Highway.  “Hari has been so supportive of VegRehoboth  he even named a panini after us, and it is delicious!” said Tara Sheldon, President of VegRehoboth.  Hari is also hosting a Vegan Cooking Class at grandpa MACS on November 30th at 6 pm.  It is free and and open to all ages and levels of experience.
Hari and chef Matt Reardon of Fork and Flask at Nage have created a menu that captures the best of the seasonal flavors.  The menu includes dishes such as Thai Curry Coconut Soup, Pumpkin Spiced Grilled Tofu, and Spiced Cider Sorbet.
VegRehoboth, established over 7 years ago, has become an integral part of beach life.  In addition to its two signature events, VegFest, and ThanksLiving, VegRehoboth hosts a monthly book club, happy hours, Meatless Monday lunches, and What’s Cookin’, a cooking class and dinner gathering all in one.  VegRehoboth continues to be a vibrant organization that enhances the quality of life here at the beach by supporting those who are exploring plant-based living through education and connection.
“We are so grateful to Hari, Matt, and Sean (Corea) for not only helping this year’s ThanksLiving come to fruition, this year VegRehoboth will also benefit from part of the proceeds.  Those funds will help us get a jump start on VegFest 2018!”
Reservations are required and can be made by calling Fork and Flask at Nage at 302-226-2037.  The 4-course meal is $25.   VegRehoboth can be found on Facebook and MeetUp.  Anyone who is seeking a healthier lifestyle is encouraged to join.
