VegRehoboth wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to our community for participating in and supporting our 6th Rehoboth Beach VegFest the weekend of June 8-10.   We are grateful to all who joined us in one way or another over the 3 days of events.

The Rehoboth Beach Library shared their display case for the month leading up to VegFest.  We provided free Vegetarian Starter Guides, exhibited popular books, and DVDS about the health benefits of eating more plants.  Following VegFest, VegRehoboth donating some of the books that were on display and they are now available to be checked out.

The weekend kicked off with a showing of “What the Health” sponsored by Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware.  Dorothy Greet and Denise Vansant provided exceptional vegan appetizers and Sweet Frog a “cool” dessert!  While VegFest had to be moved inside for the first time in 6 years, the rain did not dampen the enthusiasm for our attendees, our vendors, speakers, musicians, and volunteers. Volunteers from CAMP Rehoboth Crop, VegRehoboth, and members of the ROTC from Cape Henlopen High School were once again on hand to assist with set up, take down, food sampling, and everything in between!  The Sussex Family YMCA provided activities to keep the children entertained with arts and crafts.  Thank you Holly Piper-Smith and Suzette Chambers-Marrin!

The first 200 attendees were greeted by a sweet treat from Sweet Frog and received a reusable shopping bag donated by Rehoboth Giant Food that were filled with donations and samples of vegan products.

This year, we kept it local and showcased speakers from within our community: Andrea Jones, Dr. Krista Griffin, Hari Cameron, Laurie Elseroad, and Dorothy Greet.  Their talks were inspirational and life-changing!

We are grateful to our musicians, all of whom are repeat VegFest performers: Buntopia (Gary Lowenthal and Colleen Orozco), Kaleb Brown, Alex Razze, and Evangelina Guarjado.

Thank you to our Volunteers: Ruth Lamothe, Maryann Manzi, Lillian Berenberg, Sharon Bembry, Brian Cox, Rob Jasinski, Kathy Wiz, Muriel Hogan, Marta Ortiz, Mary Peck, Joanne Szczepkowski, and Rich Hurt and the ROTC.  We couldn’t do it without you!

To all of our Vendors, Speakers, Musicians, and Volunteers: we say Thank You!

Saturday night Gallery 50 hosted Leah Beach’s first ever solo art exhibition which featured endangered animals.  VegRehoboth favorites The Cultured Pearl provided the appetizers, and Buntopia the music!  VegRehoboth thanks Gallery 50, Buntopia, and The Cultured Pearl for their support again this year!  The paintings by Leah Beach are as beautiful as they are riveting.  Congrats to you Leah!

The Sunday Brunch with chefs Hari Cameron and Sean Corea at Fork and Flask at Nage was a VegFest favorite and many said the Best Yet.  We are thrilled Fork and Flask at Nage is continuing to offer a Vegan Brunch Buffet the first Saturday of the month.  We hope to see you there!

CAMP Rehoboth, Tricia Masala, Ruth Lamothe, Sue Goudy, MaryAnn Manzi, and Signarama: thank you for going above and beyond!  And thank you to the Rehoboth Beach Farmer’s Market for donating tents to Rehoboth Beach VegFest!

And to everyone who came and supported VegFest, we thank you!
